The messages from the Vice Dean & Research and Community Service Directorate Director of Hosanna Health Sciences College

Degefa Tadele Belato                                                                                        Vice Dean & Research and Community Service                  Directorate Director

Generally speaking, research has become one of the major areas of focus in the current growth and transformation plan of the country. It is well recognized that the extent and capacity of the industry sector are primarily dependent on the output of research undertakings. The government of Ethiopia believes this reality as principle. This fact is the reason why it accommodates the research work at the operational level in its current organizational work structures. The work arrangement and organization of the college depict this reality as an example in that the current organization of the research work has been upgraded from the dependent research unit level to the independent directorate work level. The college also believes that research is the backbone in this era of technology transformation which is of course a reality in the existing world of innovations and transformation.

With this understanding, different research activities have been carried out in the college to improve education quality and solve community health problems. So far, more than 50 research activities have been conducted in the college under different themes through the efforts made by the research and community service directorate in its history. Among the research conducted in the college so far, several research have been published in different international peer-reviewed journals in the last one and a half decades. The findings of the other research have been disseminated through writing and oral presentations in scientific forums and symposiums.

Key messages, as a dedicated health Sciences College, our vision is to produce qualified and competent health professionals who can implement the policy practices of our country. I understand that research/evidence-based practice plays a pivotal role in effectively achieving this vision and the historical mandate that has been given to us. I am certain that our collective efforts can make a significant impact on the lives of the communities we serve.

Moreover, I strongly believe that your superb contribution is instrumental to the success of the College. As we embark on this journey, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering commitment to research excellence and community services.  As teamwork is tested to be efficacious, I ask you to continue nurturing collaboration, and a spirit of support. Let us discover new paths for research, engage with local communities, and address unrelenting health challenges. Together, we can create positive change. Thank you for being a part of this journey.

                                                                               With warm regards!
