The office The of the Health Sciences Educational Development Center (HSEDC) is accountable to the Dean of the college and with the responsibility of maintaining quality standards and enhancing quality education in the college.

The major duties and responsibilities of the Office of the HSEDC are to:

  1. Facilitate curriculum development, appraisal, and revision of the programs

  2. Cconducts need assessment and gap analysis of competency-based curriculum

  3. Ensure training materials (modules, checklists, logbooks, standard operating procedures, etc.) are directly enabled to achieve units of competencies in specific occupational standards.

  4. Plan and ensure Staff Capacity building and faculty development training of academic staff on pedagogy /technical areas

  5. Facilitate timely updates of curriculum and teaching-learning materials

  6. Participate in/facilitate workshops on transfer of learning, sharing best practices, and presentation and discussion of educational quality 

  7. Facilitate the formal acceptance of the  memorandum of understanding between the clinical site and the college

  8. Share/invite experts of educational technology developers that may improve the teaching-learning activities or add value to educational quality improvement.

  9. Assess clinical simulation and clinical demonstration skills coaching, role play, and other practical education skills of instructors/technical assistants

  10. Facilitate utilization of new innovative standards to assess performance, identify gaps, and select appropriate interventions for quality education.

  11. Conduct/facilitate an institutional/self-audit using standard tools or using newly developed program-based standard tools.

  12. Mobilize resources, and raise funds from different stakeholders to conduct educational research in collaboration with the research and publication directorate

  13. Monitor the quality of exams based on standard evaluation.

Health Sciences Educational Development Centre is working strongly to the successful implementation of the strategic plans in collaboration with the college community.HSEDCs comprise six committees namely: 

  1. Curriculum development, appraisal, and revision team 

  2. Staff Capacity Building and Faculty Development team

  3. Simulation center /Skill laboratory management team

  4. Educational quality management and assurance team

  5. Educational research and innovation team
