Hosanna Health Sciences College is a Health Sciences College found in Central Ethiopia regional state. It is located in Hosanna town; the administrative capital of the region about 230kms South West of Addis Ababa. It has been established in 1997 as a training institute for junior health professionals. At this level it served the region in producing junior health care professionals for the duration of seven successive academic years. It has then been upgraded to college level in 2004. The college has been training health care professionals at mid-level category to satisfy the health human power demand of the region in particular and the country in general. 

The college is accountable to the regional government but technically to the regional health bureau. It has its own legislation which enables the college to manage the overall aspects of academic human power and the implementation of curricular activities. It periodically develops a five years strategic plan document to aid its advancement in terms of key strategic functions make it available for use as the main plan document of the college. The college is operating its academic programs based on the standards set by higher education relevance and quality agency and the requirements of the federal ministry of education. The entry requirements for the students to join the academic programs of the college are determined per the criteria set for higher education by the Federal Ministry of Education (FMOE).

In its history, as a training institute, it trained junior health professionals for a limited period of time. After its advancement to the college level it has been training mid-level health professionals in the field of clinical or comprehensive nurse, midwifery, medical lab technicians, Environmental health, Public health nurse, Pharmacy technicians, Health information technicians, Anesthesia, Health extension both in generic and upgrading program, and emergency medical technicians. Public nurse, Environmental health and Anesthesia programs were terminated due to different reasons even though Environmental health program is resumed again as the demand in the health sector emerge.

The college upgraded its capacity to implement degree programs in selected field to serve the demand of the health sector and the community at large. Consequently, the college is currently running Bachelor’s degree programs in the fields of Pharmacy, Midwifery, Medical laboratory, Family health, Nursing and Health informatic
