Community services in Hosanna Township

Hossain Town is one of the fastest-growing cities in Ethiopia and is now the capital of the Central Ethiopian Regional Government. In the past two decades, the population of the Town has been growing rapidly. Various institutions and stakeholders including our college are supporting the town government to make the lives of residents comfortable. Since it is a Town that is being built, it needs a lot of community services.

The Team Training Program (TTP)  a strategy implemented by the graduating Health Sciences students to address the community needs in Hosanna Township. In this approach, graduating students from various health categories (such as Midwifery, family health, medical laboratory, etc.) are assigned to teams. In this program, our main focus is creating awareness and addressing community needs.  Identifying and prioritizing problems, developing an action plan, and addressing the identified problems by participating in the community. In brief, the TTP program not only prepares students for their future roles as health professionals but also fosters a sense of community engagement and teamwork. It’s a valuable initiative that contributes to improving health outcomes in the community. we hope that these activities will contribute to the development of the Town. So what we want to say is that we will continue to strengthen the program.

Community service guideline

Community service guidelines are essential for ensuring effective and impactful community-based programs. It provides step-by-step procedures that are very important to governing community-based services. It was with this intention that the college developed and approved a community services guideline. The guideline covers a wide range of sub-sections, including community service project initiation, formats for submission, screening criteria, execution, and evaluation of the community service activities. Moreover, it also covers various aspects, including governance, service access, and individual needs, safety, feedback, and human resources management.
