Introduction
Every year, environmental risks cause about 12 million deaths worldwide. The risk of respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular disorders, and some types of cancer can rise when people are exposed to air pollution and harmful compounds used in buildings. Water contamination from improperly managed manufacturing or agricultural processes can expose people to health risks from contaminated drinking water. More people are exposed to greater environmental health risks as a result of climate change and extreme weather occurrences. Building healthier ecosystems and enhancing human well-being require an understanding of how environmental elements affect people's health.
To tackle the above mentioned problems Hossana College of Health Sciences had contributed by trained a number of qualified professionals Environmental Health Technician in Diploma from 1997 to 2006 E.C.
It was the only one of the four colleges in the region to train "Environmental Health Sciences" at level 4 according to the request of the South Health Bureau. However, from 2006-2014 Although the training has stopped since again in 2015 it is open and educating 45 students with Seniors environmental Health professionals.
The trained profession has the following aims, maintains that the following conditions must be met in order to be in good health: clean air, a stable climate, adequate water supplies, sanitation and hygiene, safe chemical use, radiation protection, safe and healthy workplaces, safe agricultural practices, health-supportive cities and built environments, and a preserved natural environment.
